Phenolic content and antioxidant activity of hydromethanolic and aqueous extracts of aerial parts of Phlomis crinita.

Phlomis crinita is a plant species of the family Lamiaceae including more than 100 perennial herbs, shrubs, and sub-shrubs native to Mediterranean, Central Asia, India. This commonly good natural source various secondary metabolites. Therefore, present study was conducted determine phenolic content antioxidant activity hydromethanolic (PC ME) aqueous extracts AQE) aerial parts P. crinita. Total polyphenols, flavonoids tannins were quantified, respectively by methods Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, aluminum trichloride (AlCl3) Bate-Smith method. The in vitro assessed using DPPH ABTS•+ radical scavenging, β-carotene-linoleic acid, reducing power ferrous ion chelating assays. PC ME showed high level (132,13 ±0.68 µg TAE/mg extract) total (82.71±0.79 GAE/mg extract), addition marked inhibiting oxidation β-carotene/ linoleic acid (74.10%) observed. Results also higher iron-chelating (0.20 mg/mL) compared AQE (0.046 mg/mL). revealed significant as evidenced ABTS scavenging (IC50 = 0.103 mg/mL for 0.144 assay 0.0130 0.0187 , well exhibits =0.288mg/mL) (0.296 As result, P.crinita suggested promising effective therapeutic medicinal treatment several diseases.
